Standard Walker

The Gliding Stars Standard walkers are used by beginning skaters of all ages, with or without disabilities. It is extremely stable, made of steel and powder coated, made in the United States at an RGO certified facility.  These are very durable for learn to skate or beginner hockey programs, and are widely used by parks and recreation programs around the country. They have been used in our adaptive skating program for people with disabilities for over 48 years.

Bar Walker

Our bar seat walker was designed for skaters with disabilities who are able to bear weight and walk for limited amounts of time. Examples include skaters challenged by cerebral palsy, spina bifida, unsteady gait, and traumatic brain injury, to mention a few.


Sling Walker

This model is designed for skaters with disabilities who have limited or no ability to bear weight. It is for smaller skaters, with both a height and weight limit. Skaters are supported by a sling seat with adjustable straps which assists with torso support and correct height of leg to ice ratio.  We have had over 50 skaters learn to walk and skate independently who began in the Sling Seat Walker and were non-weight bearing.  

AFO Orthotic Ice Skates


Orthotic Skates

Gliding Stars’ Orthotic Ice Skates are designed for individuals wearing AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthosis), RGOs (Reciprocating Gait Orthosis), or SMOs (Supra-Malleolar Orthosis). These include people challenged by cerebral palsy, spina bifida or other physical challenges.


Pronated Skates

Pronated ice skates are designed for anyone with pronated feet that roll in, have little or no arch, or surgically corrected clubbed feet. Over the years the majority of children and adults challenged by down’s syndrome have presented with pronated feet. This was the original reason for this design.
